About Us

Ethical AI Consultancy for Social Care. Research-led. Practice-proven.

TESSA Tools was founded by a social worker who saw AI adoption outpace governance and training. We exist to close that gap.

Our Story

Where social work meets responsible AI

We started TESSA Tools because we kept seeing the same problem: councils buying AI tools without understanding what they were adopting, and practitioners left to figure it out alone.

Our team brings together frontline social work, doctoral research, and safety-critical project management. We help organisations understand what AI does, what the risks are, and how to use it well.

What Drives Us

Built around three principles

Practitioner-led icon

Practitioner-led

Everything we build comes from frontline experience. We have carried statutory caseloads, written assessments under pressure, and used AI in real practice. That is why our training works.

Research-backed icon

Research-backed

Nadia's Professional Doctorate research at Nottingham Trent University directly informs our framework, training, and governance tools. We stay close to the evidence so your organisation does not have to.

Plain English

No jargon, no upselling, no unnecessary complexity. We explain what AI does, what the risks are, and what you need to do about it. Clearly.

Our Approach

Human judgement first, always

AI should support professional reasoning, not replace it. Every tool, framework, and training session we design puts the practitioner in control.

We work with councils, charities, and independent providers across England and the UK. Whether you need governance guidance, staff training, or inspection readiness support, we will meet you where you are.
